The durability demonstration evaluation system of 2 kW vanadium redox flow energy storage battery, developed by Prof. Huamin Zhang’ Group 303, Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, has run 1000 days with no faults from July 6, 2007 to April 1, 2010. The system has totally run excess 24000 hours and fully charge/discharge excess 6700 cycles. After testing, there is no degradation for the charge/discharge energy efficiency of the battery module. The reliability and stability of the vanadium redox flow energy storage battery lay a good foundation for its engineering and industrialization. At present, the system is still running. In 2001, Prof. Huamin Zhang and his group has began the research and development for redox flow energy storage battery. After nearly ten years of accumulation and innovation, Group 303 has got a great achievement in the development and demonstration for the key materials and system integration of redox flow energy storage battery. “10 kW vanadium redox flow energy storage battery system” won the first-class prize of “Dalian Municipal Science and Technology Progress Award” in 2008. “High Efficiency Redox Flow Energy Storage Battery System” won the first class prize of “Liaoning Provincial Technical Invention Award” in 2009. In July 2009, a united electric system “Solar photovoltaic-5 kW/50kWh redox flow battery” was successfully built in the Energy Research Demonstration Center of Tibet. By March 2010, the demonstration system has continuously run 8 months with no faults. Its reliability has been fully affirmed by the user. To accelerate the achievements transformation of the redox flow energy storage battery technology, the Dalian Rongke Power Corporation was found in October 2008 with the cooperation of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics and Borong Industry Investment Corporation, focusing on the engineering and industrialization of redox flow energy storage battery. As the key technology of new energy, new materials and smart grid, energy storage has entered a new period of rapid development. Due to high efficiency, low cost, safe and reliable, the large scale redox flow energy storage battery technology will promote the wide application of renewable energy and the construction of strong smart grid. 2010.4.1 |
