100 kW vanadium redox flow battery system passed the evaluation

On November 1st, the evaluation meeting of 100 kW vanadium redox flow battery system organized by Technology division in Liaoning province and directed by Shenyang Branch Chinese Academy of Sciences was held in DICP. Vice-director of technology division of Shenyang branch Ming Li hosted the meeting. Director of energy division of HTRDC Dongmei Shi was present at the conference. The assistant of director of DICP Aisheng Fang gave an opening speech and appreciated the help and financially support of the ministry of science and technology. The chairman and vice-chairman of evaluation committee are professor Feng Wu(Beijing institute of technology)  and professor Zhenzhong Li. Professor Xiaokang Lai came from China electric power research institute joined in the evaluation committee.

The evaluation committee heard the achievement presentation made by professor Huamin Zhang carefully. And then they inspected the running condition of the redox flow battery system, examined the relevant records. Professor Zhang’s team developed 10 kW battery modules and 100 kW battery system employed the key materials developed by ourselves successfully. The energy efficiency of the 10 kW module was 81% and maximum discharge power output exceeded 28.8 kW. The energy efficiency of 75% was achieved in the 100 kW battery system. d on the innovation check, the 10 kW module and 100 kW system was first developed in our country. The technology reaches the first-class in the world. The successful development of 100 kW redox flow battery system sets up a solid foundation for the scale-up and demonstration of redox flow battery.
