A demo All Vanadium Liquid Flow Storage Cell(AVLFSC) of 2kW output, developed proprietarily by the DICP research team headed by Prof. ZHANG Huamin, has gone through a duration test operation of as long as 2 years without any malfunctioning detected. The duration test was started on 6th July, 2007, and up to 5th July, 2009, the storage cell has been running continuously for a total of 17,500 hours and realized 4,500 charge/discharge cycles. No diminution in energy transformation efficiency has been detected so far. This result demonstrated that this storage cell system has an excellent reliability and stability, thus laying a solid foundation for the engineering processing and commercialization of the cell storage system.

As a highly efficient energy storage installation, the AVLFSC has a broad application and marketing prospect. Its utilizations include energy storage for the non-continuous power generation of wind- and solar-power stations, for stable operation of intellectual power grids, for charge stations of electric automobiles, for high power consumption enterprises to store energy in non-peaking periods, and for standby power supplies of communication and key national departments.
