On December 6th, the start-up conference of “The basic research of large -scale high efficiency redox flow battery technology” which is a part of the National Basic Research Program of China (973 program) was held in DICP. The conference was directed by the chief scientist of the program professor Huamin Zhang. Doctor Jinding Yan who comes from the High Technology Research and Development Centre of the Ministry of the Science and Technology and professor Yanping Sun (Taiyuan University of Technology) who is on duty of the project and an advisor of 973 program were present at the conference. The other experts who attended the conference included Shikong Shen (China University of petroleum), Zongqiang Mao(Tsinghua University), Yusheng Yang(Research Institute of Chemical Defense), Zifeng Ma(Shanghai Jiao Tong University), Jun Chen(Nankai University) and Pucheng Pei (Tsinghua University). The leaders in charge of every topic and the representatives of the cooperation division were also present in the conference.
Professor Huamin Zhang and the leaders of every topic reported the research targets, schedule and the principle and law of management. The administration leaders and experts agreed with the importance of the research program and gave useful suggestion on research direction and innovation point.
The organizations who take part in the program signed “The topic mission agreement” which declared research contents, expected target and research funds during 2010-2011. As suggested by professor Huamin Zhang, the standard of behavior of the staffs taking part in the program was proposed. The participants promised to follow the requirements of “truth-seeking; strict scientific; solidarity and cooperation; experience and innovation”.
At last, professor Huamin Zhang claimed that: in order to realize the breakthrough of redox flow battery technology and promote the development of redox flow battery the program will be focus on the key science question which limits the development and industrialization of redox flow battery technology.
