Recently, the State Ministry of Personnel, the Ministry of Science, the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Finance, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Committee of National Science Foundation, the National Association for Science & Technology jointly had announced the first New Century Talents Project national candidates. Five researchers of DICP, XueMing Yang, Tao Zhang, YaFeng Guan, Zhongmin Liu and Huamin Zhang have been on the list.

The New Century Talents Project implements the national human resources conference intensively, strengthens high-level professional and technical personnel, and promotes the outstanding young leaders in the academic growth of technology. The poll is on the basis of candidates recommended through all localities and departments, cited by the experts. 819 candidates have been chosen   for the first New Century Talents Project.

Previously, seven other researchers of DICP, Can Li, JinChun Xie, Keli Han, Yi Jiang , Hanfa Zou, XinMiao Liang, had been selected the National Talents Project respectively in the 1990s.
