DICP 303 group made new progress in research and development for vanadium redox flow batteries (VRFB). d on successful development of a 10kW battery system composed of 1kW VRFB modules, a 5kW VRFB module was developed. The 5kW module is stable, which efficiency is up to 78%. High power VRFB system that consists of tens to hundreds of battery modules through serial and/or parallel gets a target power output.
In 2005, the research group successfully developed the largest domestic VRFB Energy Storage System (10kW all vanadium flow storage batteries, a single battery module output power 1.3kW) funding by the "863" program. The project was checked and accepted by experts from Ministry of Science & Technology and the project results were identified by Ministry of Science and Technology of Liaoning Province in March this year. Experts all agreed that the technology had reached the leading domestic and international advanced level. The successful development of a single module with the output power of 5kW of VRFB energy storage laid a solid foundation for next development of more large-scale VRFB energy storage system.
